BY Z'NAYA FLEMMINGS, MIGUEL VILLATORO, DESIREE PINEDA, and ISIAH SHIELDS We listened to an interview on Salvador Martin and we got a lot of information about Gun Control. Gun Control is a serious problem that deals with mental and physical health problems. Guns are falling into the wrong hands at the wrong time. We need to higher the age limit to buy a gun. We listened to an interview from Dr. Salvador, Martin about Gun Control. ‘’I am apart of a group that comes up with a safety plan to make sure we’re prepared if anything should happen,’’ said Dr.Martin. The quote connects to the main idea because if guns are falling into the wrong hands, people need to be safe and feel safe. As a group we learned different things. Miguel learned that people will continue dying unless we do something about [gun control] . Isaiah learned that guns are not cool and if you shoot up a school, kids are not safe. Z’niaya learned that school safety is very important and kids need to feel safe coming to school. Desiree learned that safety is more important than anything, because of past school shootings kids do not feel safe.
How Dr. Martin Helps LMS
Period 2
BY ROBERTO LASARTE, GALILEA FARIAS, JAVIER SANTILLAN, and JESSICA VELASQUEZ Salvador Martin is our school assistant principal. The school hired campus supervisors and last year they did what is called a “practice” of what would happen on campus if there was an active shooter. “I try to build relationships with students because there can be one group mad at another group and then bad things can happen,” said Salvador Martin about smaller inner student violence. He doesn’t know if he would panic if anything active would happen on campus. They have to protect 1500 kids and over 100 adults on campus. Salvador Martin has experienced racism before. To him, gun control is a bigger issue and Dr. Martin thinks that being educated and people teaching you the right thing is the best way to keep violence away. As a group we learned more about gun control and the problems with guns.

Dr. Martin said, “If we knew better we would do better.” What Dr. Martin said connected to the main idea because if people knew the consequences they would do the right things. In my group we learned that Dr. Martin hires campus supervisors and comes up with safe plans to make students feel safe at school.
Dr. Martin's Experience with Gun Violence
Period 6
BY DEVIN GONZALEZ, DESTINY ROJAS, CARLOS ALFARO, and DANIELA ESCALANTE Dr. Martin had a gun pulled on him at the age of around 17 or 18. He explained what happened and told us his feelings, that he was more angry than scared. When he got the gun pulled on him it was a police officer, which wasn't right. The second time he got a gun pulled on him was when he told someone to be careful with his car because he was going to hit it and he did. Dr. Martin started screaming at the man that hit his car. The man then started pointing the gun at him. Dr. Martin was explaining how people have pointed guns at him and it's had to do with fights.
